SLIDELL, La. — When Camellia Bay opens its doors in 2023 — pending approval of the voters — the facility will offer far more than gaming. This will be a land-based entertainment resort with a convention center, ballrooms, casino gaming, live music venues, green space for outdoor community events, a luxury spa, multiple pools, a lazy river and seven restaurant options to choose from.
Plans for the facility include an outdoor amphitheater to host a wide variety of live entertainment. The company behind the development is one of the biggest bookers of live music and entertainment in the industry, including nationally-known recording artists and big-name comedians.
“Musical artists of all types will be drawn to Camellia Bay,” said Brent Stevens, CEO of Camellia Bay’s developer, P2E. “The stage can also be used for high-end theatrical productions that will attract audiences of all ages. From comedy acts to live magic shows, we intend to offer a wide variety for our guests, and the venue will always remain family-friendly.”
The hotel on-site will maintain that same family-friendly attitude as well.
“We’re going to build a first-class hotel that will be used by tourists to our area,” Stevens said. “There’s plenty to do and see on the Northshore, and when they visit we plan to offer them a first-class resort for their stay.”
The resort will also feature table gaming, but Stevens promises it will be table gaming done right. “We’re creating our gaming floor with the highest standards in mind. It will feature beautiful aesthetics, craft cocktails, and friendly staff members. People come to a place like Camellia Bay for an experience. That’s what we’re building.”
There will be plenty of family-friendly fun too. Kids get to enjoy resort-quality pools and a lovely lazy river – features the people of St. Tammany said they wanted.
With up to seven restaurants ranging from quick and casual to celebrity chef, Camellia Bay is also taking full advantage of their lovely location to create what just might be the perfect date night in St. Tammany Parish. “We’ve got options for every type of visitor,” said company president Jonathan Swain.
For those who prefer to reach Camellia Bay by boat, a brand new dock and marina will be on the property, with entertainment offered lakeside.
“The water is a central feature of Camellia Bay,” Brent said. “It’s not called ‘bay’ by accident! We will make the most of the natural environment, which will be a central element of our offerings.”
It’s not all fun and games. Camellia Bay will also feature a sizable convention center, drawing business meetings and gatherings from a variety of business sectors. It will also be suitable for graduations, wedding parties and Mardi Gras events, further enhancing the attraction of St. Tammany Parish to visitors and organizations.
The Camellia Bay Casino, Resort and Marina will involve a $325 million investment in St. Tammany Parish.
“We’re committed to doing this here, and we’re committed to doing it right,” Stevens said.
“St. Tammany deserves the best, and that’s what we’re going to offer.”
